SimIO connections (v 1.0)

New

Connection card with sockets with bolts. External elements like switches, leds, etc. are directly connected to these sockets and fitted with bolts. The card is connected to any inputs or outputs connector on any card.

The main characteristics are:

  • double height terminal blocks
  • pins for external power source (5 volts DC)
  • jumper for voltage selection
  • jumpers for inputs configuration (pull-up o pull-down)
  • size: 10x8 cm, like the rest of expansion boards (they can be stacked).

Terminal blocks can be installed in two different positions in order to have an easy access to them.

This PCB is sold without components installed.

Needed components (optional):

  • 4 terminal blocks (20 pins, bolt type)
  • 1 IDC connector, 40 pins (male + female)
  • 1 pin strip
  • 4 terminal blocks (2 pins, bolt type)

Before connecting any input, output or power source, be sure that you have read and understood how they are connected and managed. A wrong connection and/or jumper selection can damage the electronic devices connected to SimIO boards, even your PC.

Instructions for safe use
To avoid malfunction or damage to your cards or computer please observe the following:
  • before connecting your cards, check that jumper positions are set accordingly with the type of feeding and with your inputs configuration. If they are wrong, your computer can be damaged.
  • do not expose them to water, moisture or place on a conductive surface whilst in operation
  • do not expose them to heat from any source
  • take care whilst handling to avoid mechanical or electrical damage to the principal circuit board and connectors
  • avoid handling the printed circuit board while it is powered. Only handle by the edges to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge damage
  • cards should be operated in a well ventilated environment and should be not covered
  • cards should be placed on a stable, flat non-conductive surface in use and should not be contacted by conductive items
